A Portrait of Katie and Alice

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot with Katie and her daughter Alice.

Around the time, I had just bought a Bronica ETRS.  So while I did most of the photoshoot on my trusty and ever reliable Fuji XT1s, I thought I’d bring the Bronica along and fire off some Ilford HP5+.

At a later date, I will post a more comprehensive piece on my thoughts on the Bronica ETRS, but for the meantime, I wanted to share this image.

It was the first photograph I took on the camera and when I got the negatives back from the lab, I knew it pretty special.

I’m a big fan of natural unposed portraits and usually one of the best times to capture someone is when they’re are preparing themselves.  At the time, because it was the first image on the roll, I had assumed nothing would come of it.  But fortunately, it came out pretty well.

In fact, as portraits go, it’s definitely one of my favourites.
